Dr. Barbara Needell is a 1979 graduate of Colgate University and a 1986 graduate of the Goldman School of Dentistry in Boston, Ma. She practiced dentistry in Florida from 1987-2016. She was Chief Forensic Odontologist for the Palm Beach Medical Examiner’s Office from 2005-2016 and a forensic dental consultant for Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. Besides Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Odontology, she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), a member of the American Society of Forensic Odontology (ASFO), the International Association of Identification (IAI), and the Florida Division of the International Association of Identification (FDIAI). She is also a forensic dentist for the National Missing and Unidentified Person Systems (NamUs) and on the dental review panel for the FBI. She is a founding member of FEMORS (Florida Emergency Mortuary Operations Response System) and a member of DMORT (Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team) Region 4 and Kenyon International. Her forensic experiences include dental identifications, bitemark evaluations, expert witness testimony and mass disasters responses including Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Charley, and Chalks Airline Crash. Dr. Needell currently lives in Monument, Colorado.
