The Civil Litigation Committee of the American Board of Forensic Odontology will present a Workshop on Expert Witness Testimony. This Workshop will be held in conjunction with the 2025 AAFS Meeting in Baltimore, MD. It will be held all day Sunday, February 16, 2025,
preceding the AAFS Meeting.

Participants and Observers must have a DMD, DDS, or equivalent degree. If you are inexperienced, or if this is the first time you have taken this workshop, it is recommended that you sign up as an observer. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. The ABFO reserves the right to limit the number of Participants and Observers to the Workshop.

All Participant attendees will have access to the case and related trial documents as well as educational materials prior to the session. Observers will have access to a summary of the case prior to the mock trial. All attendees will either participate as witnesses or as jurors during the Sunday mock trial session.

The case presented at the Workshop will be a “Standard of Care” case. The educational materials will include presentations by experienced expert witnesses and advice on all aspects of expert witness preparation and forensic report writing. These presentations will cover pertinent topics
such as guidelines for Expert Witnesses and relevant Standards of Care in Dentistry.

The Participants will be required to submit a written forensic report on their findings in this assigned case as either a plaintiff or defense witness, which will be assigned at the time of the receipt of the case. The Sunday session will feature “testimony” by the “Expert Witness” Participants in a mock trial format that includes a judge, jury, and trial lawyers. Lunch will be provided for all attendees.

A certificate of attendance will be provided to all attendees for 25/11 (Participant/Observer) accumulated hours of forensic education attendance at the conclusion of the Workshop. These CE hours are not PACE Program or AGD approved.

If you wish to attend the Workshop as either a Participant or Observer, please sign up using the ABFO store option on the Board website, abfo.org. If you require additional information about the workshop, please contact Dr. Ann Norrlander, Workshop Chair, by cell phone at
