Dr. Brumit holds Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees from Baylor College of Dentistry. She is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and is approaching completion of the AGD Mastership track. Dr. Brumit is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Center for Research and Education in Forensics at the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio. She is a graduate of that postdoctoral fellowship program and has been a member of the faculty since 2001. She is Co-Director of the Southwest Symposium on Forensic Dentistry and a Forensic Odontologist for the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office. She was a consulting Forensic Odontologist to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's office for 15 years and currently a consultant for the Center of Human Identification Laboratory of Forensic Anthropology at the University of North Texas. Dr. Brumit is a member of the National Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team, (DMORT) Region 6. She assisted in the identification of the victims of 9/11 at the World Trade Center and was deployed with DMORT to identify victims from Hurricane Katrina. She is a consultant to the FBI, Texas Rangers, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Child Protective Services (CPS), Department of Public Safety(DPS), and various law enforcement agencies. She has testified as a forensic expert in criminal and civil cases. Dr. Brumit is a member of the American Society of Forensic Odontology (ASFO) and served on the Board of Governors as Treasurer for that organization. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), has served as Secretary and Program Chair and is a Past Chair of the Odontology Section of the Academy. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Odontology (ABFO), has served two consecutive terms on the Board of Directors, and is the current President. She practiced general dentistry in private solo practice for 23 years in Cedar Hill, Texas and is currently in group clinical practice in Gainesville, Texas.
