Dr Doug Arendt directs a private diagnostic consulting practice in Maxillofacial Pathology & Forensics. This follows a full Navy career of 30 years and reached the rank of Captain. His most recent positions were as Chief Forensic Odontology and staff pathologist at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology as well as the Specialty Consultant to the Surgeon General (Navy) in Forensic Odontology.
His forensic experience is global being involved in a myriad of forensic missions, both within the United Sates as well as internationally; a few of which included 9/11, Serbia, Korean Airlines mishap, the hunt for Maurice Bishop, Gander mishap among others. Beyond mass fatality incidents his experience in pattern injury analysis (bite-marks) has been in support of DOJ and forensic nurse examiners among others.
His leadership experience included Chair American Board of Forensic Odontology Certification Committee and past president ASFO (American Society of Forensic Odontology.
Doug’s approach in lectures has always been well received and very pictorial taking the audience to the scene, discussing the myriad of challenges unique to that mission. The audience is both educated and entertained.
